My Five Essentials Featuring Sasha Charnin Morrison, Author of Secrets of Stylists

Blogging has been the most rewarding professional career I’ve ever had, and it’s also brought incredible people in to my personal life. It’s hard to imagine meeting genuine friends over the internet, especially ones who become your confidante, cheerleader and a constant source of support and encouragement but that’s what happened when I met Sasha Charnin Morrison, Fashion Director of US Weekly and author of Secrets of Stylists: An Insider’s Guide to Styling the StarsSecrets of Stylists (for sale now on Amazon, order your copy if you know what’s good for your style).Sasha is a true original and her love of fashion is infectious (it’s not unusual to find us obsessing over bags and shoes at 2am together online!)- she attributes her fashion sense to her stepmother Jade Hobson (former Creative Director at Vogue under Grace Mirabella) who nurtured her fashion obsession at an early age. Sasha put in serious time as fashion director at Allure, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar and did the fashion show circuit globally 3 months out of the year. When she had her twins, she jumped ship to US magazine in order to stay in NYC with them.In her new book, Secrets of Stylists: An Insider’s Guide to Styling the Stars“Secrets of Stylists”– Sasha gives the inside scoop on being a celeb stylist and how to obtain your dream of being one. But even if you have no aspirations of being a stylist, you will be extremely entertained by her book as no one tells a story as well as Sasha! If you live in NYC, please stop by Sasha’s book launch party at Scoop tomorrow (Tuesday, May 3rd from 6-8pm) hosted by famed stylist Annabel Tollman. I will be there of course (I’m in it along with a few of my favorite bags!) and would love to have a glass of bubbly with you– rsvp for the party here!Jump to read Sasha’s favorite Five Essential bags (and then some, she added her own category!)–I am in love with the Thursday Friday bags! Hermes is out of their minds to for suing them to cease and desist. I mean, come on, I think WE ALL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND THE REAL THANG?! It’s the perfect daily tote to keep an extra pair of shoes, change of clothes and anything else I need throughout the day running around with my twin boys. My color? Camel.I believe in trying to be chic and functional at all times, but it gets tough while traveling because baggage claim treats bags like they’re unwanted stepchildren! My Tumi rolley bags not only get me around in style, they take the abuse fabulously. I have two sizes, and working my way up to a 3rd. Love my Tumi Vapor small size in silver, extended trip in gold and can’t wait to buy the largest in black soon.Celine bigger black bag with a fox tail. (Which I already own). Celine casts a mysterious spell on me in regards to its bags. There is something refined and classic– not usually something I would gravitate to normally. But there’s always a twist of some sort– the shape, the color, the blocked color, the animal print. I love the construction of this particular bag because I am a sucker for a boxy tote bag! The fact that it has grown bigger makes me want it even more-I already have one, how many do you need?! As many as you can get your paws on. I also love the fox tail attachment.Torn: I love the Versace fringed insanity, the Valentino Rockstud in leopard (not included above), Louboutin snake with the bow and chain (but I’m not really a bow person) and crazy for Cavalli fringed hippie bag. That gorgeous Chanel brown bag. I don’t know what it does… but I want it, badly!Well. There’s only one. The McQueen Brittania Punk leather box clutch. It won’t matter what you’re wearing when you have this in your clutches!
