Paco Rabanne x Comme des Gar Reissue: Back on the Chain Gang

I am so excited about the re-launch of the house of Paco Rabanne. The mere name gives me a thrill. The first stage of this massive comeback is a collaboration with Rei Kawakubu of Comme des Gar?ons: a reissue of Rabanne’s iconic chain-metal handbag, “le69,” from – when else? – 1969. His heavy-metal designs were futuristic then (it makes sense to hear he did the costumes for “Babarella”) and they are still impossibly edgy today. Blame it on my own rebellious teenage years, but this chain link bag collection brings to mind my secret obsession with chain mail. I just can’t get enough of these chains, and that shouldn’t be a problem – there are nine mind-blowing options to choose from: steel, natural horn, stingray leather, warm brown vegetable-dyed leather, matte wine-colored suede, powder pink suede, black rubber, perspex, and aluminum. For me, there’s no debate: aluminum, please! All I’m missing is one of these dresses. Let’s get the rest of that re-launch going, pronto! At Barneys New York in Brown, Wine, Pink Powder, and SilverPair with: It’s not a Jane Birkin- or Audrey Hepburn-worthy original, but Sass & Bide’s “Higher Ground” dress, a scoop-neck mini with allover embellishments of silver, gold, and clear beads, rhinestones, and studs will still bring out your inner bad-girl space goddess. On Ssense for $1,172.50.
