Have you ever thought, “Man oh man I really need a shiny bag that is in the form of a gigantic tote!” But then you went to the store and all of them were just too, well, too boring? I mean, they’re all just black and nothing sets them apart! And then, if you were to get a boring black one, how are people supposed to know what brand it is?!Fear not my good friends; See by Chloe has your solution. Not only can you get a massive shiny bag, but people will not be left wondering who in the world made it, because, get this: it says on the bag!Okay, I can’t do it. I can’t go any longer pretending this is okay. First, it’s a shiny bag, but it’s not patent leather, it’s “super-shiny nylon.” Then, instead of a subtle “See by Chloe” tag, it says “SEE BY CHLOE” in humongous letters with a leopard print background. How is this okay? Someone tell me. I need to know. If you feel the need to tell, I mean scream, the brand name of your fugly bag, go ahead and pick you up one of these little beauties for $195. Yuck.SEE CHLOE AT Saks Fifth Avenue

Reed Krakoff Gym Bag

Something tells me Reed Krakoff didn’t really intend for this bag to be used to cart around your smelly sneakers and sweaty shorts. This “gym” bag is certainly luxe utilitarian; the all-leather body with python handle strap closure is modern while the detachable strap makes it practical. I think Reed has an incredible eye for style and design; I would swear he was an architect if I didn’t know any better. This is a great work bag for the woman who needs plenty of room and none of the extraneous muss or fuss. At quick glance, however, I think the strap anchors look cheap. They’re thin, made of simple metal and just look like something you’d find at Macy’s. Granted, this bag is under $800, so I guess you get what you pay for–especially at Reed Krakoff. But remember the days when $790 was A LOT to spend on a bag? Oh how times have changed.$790, available at Reed Krakoff, 831 Madison Ave.

MaxMara Olimpia Bag

Designed with the hallmarks of the MaxMara woman in mind–character, independence and passion for design–the Spring 2011 key bag, dubbed the Olimpia, is an elegant Boston bag minimalist shape formulated to be the holdall for a career woman on the move. Named after a historic theatre in Paris, the Olimpia is constructed of supple calfskin, and available in four colors (ecru, tan, red and navy/white), it features double handles, a shoulder strap and saddlery details. It also has what I refer to as nifty fan-shaped corners made of stitched leather. Personally, I like the bag in the darker colors; the large rectangular outline on the sides is less conspicuous and the MaxMara logo becomes discreet. MaxMara, like Akris, Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli, emphasizes subtle luxury–and that mantra carries across all categories. Buy this bag if you’re looking for a simple, well constructed handbag with no fuss, flash or muss. At under $1,000, it’s also price friendly for those who value quality over It-bag wannabes.$995, available at MaxMara boutiques

Bottega Veneta Milk Assenzio Empire Intreccio Sfumato Rombi Aquilone Bag

I didn’t think I would like this bag. I passed over it at first, not bothering to notice itssnake-embossed supple leather or the curb-chain accents that compliment the dark brown color in a delicate way. I didn’t notice the little metal feet to make this soft number stand tall. This bag is like the hidden cashmere cardigan at the back of your closet. It may blend in with all the other items, but when fished out of the darkness, it is a go to wear for many occasions and always looks great. This diva in hiding would really be perfect for an everyday casual wear bag. It’s large enough to carry your essentials but not too big to cramp your style. Usually, I’m not a chain girl, but these links are small and subtle enough to get my vote.$898.00

Slouchy and soft, this Bottega Veneta sfumato rombi bag is the perfect addition to your spring/summer wardrobes. Doesn’t it just make you long for the beach and picnics in the park? The wide, roomy bottom sure has enough space to accommodate even the busiest of days–the interior is bisected into two large compartments–while the contoured shape of the bag ensures comfort as it sits by your side. The braided handle is a nice touch–the soft grip won’t break your back. It’s nice to see Tomas Maier break from Bottega’s traditional intrecciato all-over weave in favor of a more subtle trim intersecting the bag in a geometric pattern. With its soft color palette, it’s sure to match all your outfits come spring.$3,300

Céline Luggage Phantom Tote

I’ve died and gone to bag heaven. Spotted at this week’s Céline pre-fall appointment was this stunning new version of Phoebe Philo’s instant classic Luggage tote. Meet the “Luggage Phantom”–it boasts an expanded wide base (perfect for travel) and an all-new construction. The face of the bag–in this case, black stamped faux crocodile–is constructed of one whole skin instead of multiple pieces stitched together. Not to fret, though, as the quintessential layered-and-sewn look from the original bag you’ve grown to love and covet is still there; the bag, with its new construction, is that much lighter as a daily carry-all. What also makes Phantom new are side straps that can be tied or buckled to make the bag less open. It’s the perfect day to weekend-at-the-beach bag. I’m already on the wait list.$2,990.

Felix Rey Toys & Trinkets Diaper Bag

No, I don’t have an announcement to make. A diaper bag to me is like a hairbrush to Serena van der Woodsen. We both likely will never own one. But while browsing ShopBop’s new bags, I spotted (no pun intended- get it? Because it has spots!?!) this bag and my eyes were immediately drawn to it. Aside from the fact that it’s gold and I’m obsessed with gold, the bag has two outer pockets at the front with “toys” and “trinkets” embroidered on them. Adorable. All mommies have different diaper bags styles. I am going to assume Victoria Beckham will simply use one of her many Hermès bags, but most moms probably would take a different route. Might I suggest the gold cheetah route? This Felix Roy bag has plenty of pockets and necessities that a mom requires in a diaper bag. At least, to me it looks like it does, because I wouldn’t know what one would need. But it’s cute, glam and any mom would be chic carrying it.Available at shopbop for $395
