KORS Michael Kors Knoxville Tote

I was lucky enough to go into the Michael Kors store in the Boca Town Center Mall yesterday, and to my surprise there were so many new purses and shoes! It was like I had died and went to fashion heaven! I’m a huge Michael Kors fan, and when I saw all the new merchandise I was literally drooling. I ended up purchasing the “Morgen Platform” sandal in black, and as I was paying I saw this handbag in the back of the store that looked stunning! The handbag was the KORS Michael Kors “Knoxville” Tote, and it really was a beautiful sight in person.What caught my eye about this handbag was the gold hardware. It was quite a few feet from the cash register to where this handbag was, and all I could see was the sparkling gold hardware. When I went to see the bag up close, the black leather looked absolutely beautiful with the gold hardware. It was as if it was this simple tote that was dressed up in this gorgeous hardware. The hardware is definitely was sold me about this bag. Without the hardware this bag would look like any other plain black leather bag. It was probably a good thing I bought the shoes before seeing the “Knoxville” tote, because I would of snagged the purse instead!You can purchase the KORS Michael Kors “Knoxville” Tote at Michael Kors for $448, and trust me this bag is worth every penny. One glance of this handbag, and you’ll be drooling over it just like I was!See KORS Michael Kors Knoxville Tote at: Michael KorsThe Chat: Knoxville!

Dakota Fanning Style: Balenciaga Giant Hardware City

It seemed like just yesterday I was watching my favorite child actress work the big screen so professionally. It’s Miss Dakota Fanning and she’s ditched the sandals for heels and her dolls for Balenciaga! She looks absolutely amazing and so grown up. The busy star arrived to the scene of a movie she’s working on, looking really fashionable in her outfit of choice. She pulled off a safe look in all black, neutral pants, and an excellent handbag of choice, a Balenciaga Giant Hardware City. It seems like every celebrity loves Balenciaga, and there’s really no secret to it, as many bagista’s would agree with me that the Italian based designer creates accessories of superior quality. Upon reviewing Dakota’s bag, I got a bit stumped on what the actual color of her City is. I can’t decide on whether her bag is charcoal grey, anthracite, or classic noir. Whichever of the three it is, she managed to match her handbag with her outfit, wonderfully.The giant gold toned hardware adds the perfect amount of bling to her look, and if you seek a giant Balenciaga of your own, you can purchase the top handle totes in a variety of colors through Bluefly or Shop Authentic Balenciaga on eBay

Fendi Marshmallow Flap Shoulder Bag

What’s fresh over at Fendi are these adorable Marshmallow Flap Bag’s. Since the moment I ran into them I knew these pieces were truly perfect for the lady who craves a great designer shoulder bag. Both carry this great silhouette resembling an oversized version of the infamous Fendi baguette hanging off a single shoulder strap.In more detail, soft gathered pleats meet at the center of this shoulder bag where you can also find an oversized double F’s metal logo. Secured by a front flap opening and sealed shut by means of a snap closure allows quick access to your goods in a simple and stylish method. A classic interpretation of leather and chain can be found on this chain-link shoulder strap, which adds character and sophistication compared to your typical simple leather shoulder strap. I absolutely adore both classic leather and logo cotton jacquard versions and I can see how both would serve best in different occasions.Although these shoulder bags are pleasant and stylish for years to come, I’m not too fond of the price tag at the moment. Perhaps I can score one of these on sale sometime later on this year, but if your truly in need of Fendi’s Marshmallow bags you can find the all-leather for $1,400 or the logo version for $1,000 by shopping at SaksFifthAvenue. Leopard Print for $2300 over at Net-a-Porter.The Chat: Fendi Marshmallow!

The Metallic Michael Kors Zuma Satchel

Oh my gosh! I can’t believe I’m heading back to school already! Fall is literally just around the corner, whether I’m ready for it or not. Now I’ve never been much of a fan of the Fall season. I mean, who wants to rake up all those leaves in the front yard? But I suppose there is something good that comes from Fall — Metallics! In fact, a great metallic handbag is my accessory of choice for the Fall season. I especially love the bronze shades! They are so pretty and they go with just about everything in my wardrobe!And speaking of metallics, I found this lovely metallic bag from Michael Kors while browsing on their official website. Introducing the Michael Kors Zuma Satchel. This bag is so unique and fun, I absolutely love the horizontal pleats and knot detail. It’s funny because this bag almost reminds me of a Kooba bag, only with a slightly higher price tag. I think what I like most about this bag, however, is that it is both neutral and shimmery at the same time. It would be perfect for day or for night, whatever the occasion may be! But just in case you’re not in the mood for a metallic handbag, the Michael Kors Zuma Satchel is available in Black as well!The Michael Kors Zuma Satchel measures 14.5″ x 11″ x 5.5″ and it retails for $995. Find it in Brass, Gunmetal, or Black at Michael Kors! also available at Bloomingdales.The Chat: The Zuma!

Thrifty Thrill Alert: 30% off all Handbags!

It’s Sophia Vergara, looking in great spirits after dining in at KOI restaurant in Hollywood. The first thing I noticed about this Latin beauty was her beautiful handbag of choice, and I really do mean that! I’m one of those Bagista’s that dreams of owning her very own Hermes someday, so the sight of any Birkin to me is pleasant. Sophia’s Birkin of choice goes by the name of gris or dove grey and I adore it. I think this color makes such a great bag alternative to the popular neutral shades of blacks, whites, and browns, although I’d prefer a much brighter color if I had the ability to own my very own Birkin. Safely pair this piece of luxury with an all black look just like Sophia did, or play with your appearance among denims and dresses. We all know Birkin’s don’t run cheap, so the best bet besides hitting your local Hermes boutique is to shop (or browse): Authentic Hermes on eBay*Auction photo courtesy of eBay Seller: flossyfigaro

Marc Jacobs Studded Stardust Crossbody Bag

Every girl should obtain a sparkly handbag or accessory in her collection, that’s if she doesn’t own one already. It’ll usually consist of a small bag or clutch that doesn’t get to go out on many outings but get’s the most attention towards its way. Mr. Marc Jacobs is no stranger to the small sparkly handbag, and obviously by popular demand, he’s brought out a new gem for his Collection. The Small Studded Stardust Crossbody Bag has got it going on, not only is it dazzling in shiny leather, it’s studded all over too! Quilted metallic leather we all know and love lines the exterior of this bag and petite studs embellish this for an even more eye catching effect. Judging by pictures, I first thought we had a glimmery wristlet coming our way, but instead, a lovely messenger style accessory. Dangle this on the shoulder or across the body with its adjustable flat leather strap, it’s appealing to the eye and it’s sure to brighten up the last finishes to any outfit.With the holiday seasons just around the corner, this Marc Jacob’s would make a great accessory to take along to those holiday parties and gatherings. Foley + Corinna Metallic Snake Moto Hobo

Glancing at this hobo for the first time, I would have never imagined this odd ball belonging to Foley + Corinna. It’s pretty different from the usual accessories the All-American brand tends to release.Actually, this is the first time I run upon the moto style hobo’s that F+C has introduced this Fall/Winter season, and frankly, I like them.From the looks of this, it’s not your typically structured handbag, as you might need to take a few to figure out what’s where on this slouchy hobo.There’s dangling tassel zipper pulls running vertically downward and adjustable buckle mechanisms to gather can be found at its sides. As for the uneven body frame, if you’re not a fan of a slouchy bag, it might be a hassle to maintain upright, but in return, you’ll adapt that vintage bohemian-chic look Foley + Corinna proudly presents.Once again animal prints make yet another statement, this time around it’s metallic snakeskin embossed onto this leather bag. The iridescent hues of copper and silvers makes this hobo wardrobe flexible and of course, the extra thick shoulder strap will bring nothing but comfort during those long periods of wear.If flashy snake prints aren’t your style, the solid pebbled leather version might suit you best.Discover Foley + Corinna accessories online through: ShopbopThe Chat: FC Moto!

Sneak Peek: Miss Gustto Handbags

After seeing the Gustto Occhialli Bag featured during the 30 Days of Giveaways going on here at Bag Bliss and The Bag Forum, my interest in the brand was instantly rejuvenated. But how could it not be? After all, the bag was beautiful! And I have always had this deep admiration for Agathe Planchon. Her company began as a small, internet-based business. It certainly didn’t take Agathe long, however, to climb her way to the top of the fashion world and now her handbags are loved by celebrities and bagistas alike! Gustto handbags are simple, gorgeous, and unique. What more could a girl really ask for?Well, I’m glad you asked because just when it seemed like it couldn’t possibly get any better, it actually did! Introducing a brand new line from Agathe Planchon — The Miss Gustto Handbag Collection! This new line was created for young and adventurous ladies on the go. It offers trendy and versatile pieces, everything you would expect from the Gustto name. But get this ladies, these new handbags are set at a lower, more affordable price-point. So if this was the “more” that a girl could ask for, then I think Agathe needs a big round of applause!Pictured below are a couple of my favorite groupings from the new Miss Gustto Line. The Fiore Collection features beautifully embossed leather and is reminiscent of the Gustto Pavia Bag. The Vintage Collection features adorable little studs and woven detailing.For more information about the new Miss Gustto Handbag Collection, please visit Gustto’s official website.Otherwise, be sure to look for it at stores such as Bloomingdales. The collection is due out after January 1st!The Chat: miss gustto!

Nancy Gonzalez Python & Crocodile Satchel

If I had a nice chunk of money to spare on a designer handbag that I’ll admire more than I’ll actually wear, I’d head on over to the Nancy Gonzalez section and give into the Framed Python Satchel.There is something about this satchel that makes me awe in disbelieve at what you could get for your moneys worth. In comparison to other high-end designer brands, for $2650, you’re likely to get something such as luscious lambskin or another kind of distressed leathers, but when it comes down to shopping for a Nancy Gonzalez accessory, you’re sure to get each and every penny’s worth.This distinctive satchel arrives in exotic python and crocodile leather. With a more common name most ladies lust over attached to this piece, this handbag would easily run from $3,500+!This satchel shuts with a magnetic closure and features two large compartments separated by a zipped flat pocket. Pretty suede lines the interior and exotic reptile leathers line everything else from the rolled handle tops to the leather covered feet. Dangling stones adds unique character to an already exclusive piece.What do you ladies think about this piece? Is it your taste or a bit too fancy?Discover the Nancy Gonzalez collection online at: Saks Fifth AvenueThe Chat: Gonzalez!

Diane Von Furstenberg Stephanie Rasta Bag

I have to admit, I’ve been drawn to Diane Von Furstenberg‘s style for awhile now. She definitely understands how to dress a woman. She provides flattering, feminine dresses that don’t shirk from projecting a strong image. Her bags have recently begun to reflect this approach to design.While we’ve seen the Stephanie before, we haven’t seen it like this! The Rasta style Stephanie pays homage to Diane’s expertise with print. White I adore the texture of the oversized, chain link metallic bag, what I really love is the striking use of color in this version! Red, orange, gold, green blue and metallics simply burst forth with their excitement. So versatile and FUN!. And did I say FUN? Bags are so serious sometimes, it’s great to see the whimsy without being kitchsy!This oversized bag at 12″H x 17″L x 5″D will have plenty of room for a woman on the go! It features a suede band at the top and antiqued brass hardware. There’s even a detachable shoulder strap and a tassled pull on the main compartment. Hot Buy: Coccinelle “Goodie” Pleated Patent Canvas Clutch

Coccinelle is a name that I have never heard of before. But while browsing around the Forzieri website, I stumbled upon some handbags from this designer and found myself rather intrigued. Of particular interest was this Pleated Patent Canvas Clutch, from Coccinelle’s Goodie Bag collection. But wait… patent canvas? Yes, I read the name correctly. This adorable little clutch is made of something called patent canvas, which is actually canvas that has been coated to give it a shiny, satin-like appearance. Very interesting!And, as you can see, it looks pretty darn cool on this little bag! However, this wasn’t what originally caught my eye when I first saw this clutch. Nope, it was those gorgeous pleats! They are so elegantly done, I really love the sophisticated look they give this otherwise simple clutch. Plus they add a great deal of dimension to the shiny fabric from which they were made. The Coccinelle Pleated Patent Canvas Clutch would make a great pick-me-up. It is decent in size, measuring 15 inches long. It also comes with an optional crossbody strap and it is available in a variety of colors. And for less than $200, this lovely clutch truly is a Hot Buy! So don’t feel too guilty if you find yourself buying more than one of these babies!The Coccinelle Pleated Patent Canvas Clutch is available in Blue (shown), Silver (shown), Black, Pink, or White. You can pick one up here at Forzieri for only $195!The Chat: coccinelle!

Juicy Couture Sunset Strip Mary Jane Hobo

I remember the days when I was first introduced to the All-American brand of Juicy Couture. Everything was so glitzy, girlie, and it seemed like each detail was simply adorable. Whether you were a fan or if you simply disliked the teeny bopper style of Juicy Couture, today; Juicy Couture carries accessories for a whole new level of fans. Sure every once in a while a peppy bag pops out or if you simply search the sales bins, you’re bound to find a bright color-contrasting piece with a catchy saying on it. But within a couple of years and just like its first consumers did, the House of Juicy has matured along with their goods.Take a look at their latest lower-priced handbag; it’s the Sunset Strip Mary Jane Hobo. With more muted colors and a not-so-funky silhouette like its economical predecessors used to be, who exactly is Juicy Couture targeting this towards? Personally, I don’t dislike it. I like the fact that the grey looking trim is in fact metallic silver canvas, but as for the shape, I’m thinking it looks too nylon lunchbox or camping gear for my taste. Don’t forget that Juicy still has a teeny side to it as this nylon bag arrives lined with its infamous logo inside.For $198, discover the latest that Juicy has to offer by shopping through our friends at: ShopbopThe Chat: sunset!

Rebecca Minkoff Main Squeeze Clutch

Rebecca Minkoff sure has taken a liking to heavy hardware over the past few seasons. Up until this point, however, a majority of this has come in the form of studs (in every shape and size, of course). But it looks like the designer has decided to expand her horizons a bit for her latest collection. She is now experimenting with other types of hardware. And, in the case of the bag you see pictured here, these “other types” include buckles… serious buckles. Introducing the Rebecca Minkoff Main Squeeze Clutch!Perhaps my favorite of the three bags that make up this particular group, the Main Squeeze Clutch is very similar in size to the MAC. The front of this of clutch is adorned by… not one… not two… but five buckles! The buckles are neatly arranged in a stair-stepping fashion, creating a diagonal line that moves from the upper left-hand corner to the lower right-hand corner of the bag. But these are not ordinary buckles.Nope, these babies have a stud-like appearance to them. Plus the buckles have double metal loops that remind me of the Rebecca Minkoff Stud and Loop Bracelet. Well, I guess if you ever wanted to match your bracelet to your handbag, then here is your chance!Find the Rebecca Minkoff Main Squeeze Clutch at RevolveClothing! #gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 50%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}The Chat: msc!

Judith Leiber Zebra Clutch

Once again we show off another amazing find by Judith Leiber. This time around she presents to us an exotic that has been seen from time to time in the world of handbags, and we’re not just talking animal print here, instead, it’s an entire miniature model of a zebra. There is nothing to dislike about this daintily resting zebra clutch, other than the fact that you’re limited to what you can carry along for the night.When you think about it in those terms, what fun is there in obtaining a piece that better serves décor than a bag? The only conclusions I can draw to that would be that if you have whooping $5,000 to invest on a one-of-a-kind, collector’s piece, then why the heck not?By just feasting your eyes on this crystal embellished piece, you are bound to be hypnotized by the fine black, grey, silver and light pink stone detailing. Even if you’re lucky enough to fit a lip gloss and cell phone into this clutch, there are no doubts that the best looking clutch of the night will definitely be yours.Unfortunately, my bag funds and giant load of daily essentials don’t allow me to give into such an exceptional piece, but you can discover more Leiber through the online shops of netaporter.Shop the Judith Leiber Boutique at Net-a-Porter#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 50%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Burberry Equestrian Check (Ombré) Shopper

For the fall season, the House of Burberry has stepped into the dark side, or at least half way into the dark side. The British brand has presented to us a mysterious side of them, but not enough to do away completely with their infamous check print. Just check out the Equestrian Check (Ombré) Shopper, a piece that’s as interesting as the shadow amongst it. As I come to think of it, has Burberry ever done Ombré and check print on a single piece before?This blending technique sure is tricky, but I say Burberry did an excellent job in pulling it off. I like the dim and gloomy look of this shopper; it adds an inventive vibe to the bright design of the famous check print. Sure you can carry your classic Burberry check bag year-round, but you can’t beat the bright to dark shaded design of this piece, making it the perfect Burberry shopper for the upcoming cooler seasons. Dark lining throughout the base, protective metal feet, and easy-to-clean check canvas will take you through the wind, rain and snow during the next couple of months, while the roomy dimensions and extra pockets will keep you organized throughout your busy schedule.This chic shopper carries a $1,1,95 price tag, and is available now through the Burberry Boutique at Nordstrom#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Coach Kristin

I first discovered Coach when I was in high school. It was the “it” brand to have. Almost every girl in my high school had a Coach purse and accessories and if you didn’t you were instantly labeled “uncool.” I can vividly remember all of us talking about the different Coach bags that were coming out every season and which ones we wanted to get. Of course, at that age we had wish lists and credit cards our parents gave us because none of us had jobs. Even after Christmas break, we were all eager to find out who got which Coach bags.The point of everything stated above, is that back then Coach was a different brand. It was more classic and they had their very own unique look. Now, Coach is more edgier and strives to be more fashionable. The “Kristin” Studded Leather Satchel would of never been apart of the Coach brand I knew back then, but I must say it’s pretty stunning.I’ve been obsessed with anything gunmetal this year. The color is so different and just insanely gorgeous. Mix gunmetal with some studs and you have one explosive combination, and the reason why I’m in love with this bag. It’s definitely a perfect bag to carry around when you are having fashionable nights out.The Coach “Kristin” Studded Leather Satchel can be purchased at Nordstrom for $598.#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Devi Kroell unveils Dax Gabler

Whatever happened to Devi Kroell? You may have heard that the CFDA Swarovski Perry Ellis Award recipient left her namesake company (Devi Kroell Inc.) in May of 2010. While this may be true, the designer has not given up her love for the fashion world. In fact, she will be returning to the New York fashion scene for Fall 2011 with her brand new line called Dax Gabler!Kroell named her new line after her grandmother’s maiden name, which is of Tyrolean heritage. Kroell says she drew inspiration for the collection from the Austrian/German art movement known as “New Objectivity”. Of particular interest to her was a lesser known artist from the movement named Alfons Walde. He was a Tyrolean painter who specialized in snow capped mountains and Tyrolean daily life.The new collection features a subdued color palette of grays, browns, and blacks which is traditional of Tyrolean costumes. Many of the designs also feature century old necessities for the hunters and gatherers of the region. The dangling straps with the loops at the ends, for example, are like those used by hunters or gatherers to tie their catch to. Although today’s bagista would probably not use this feature for such a thing, they do add a very interesting element to the bags nonetheless!Prices for the new Dax Gabler collection range from $250 to $890. Not only does the collection feature handbags, like the lovely ones pictured here, but shoes and clothing as well!#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Emmy Rossum Style: Gerard Darel Sweet Bag

Glitter can be very annoying. It’s like beach sand because once it’s on our skin it doesn’t want to seem to get off! I’m personally not a glitter fan but when it’s featured on something fashion wise that I consider fabulous, I can deal with it.As I write frequently, I love clutches. I don’t even own that many of them but I love them. I use to be a huge fan of large handbags but I love the simplicity of a clutch. They’re so easy to deal with and they fit only the essentials you truly need to carry around. When I carry big handbags I tend to put the whole top of my dresser in them. However, in a clutch I can only put money, cards, lipstick and my phone.I’m currently drooling over the Anya Hindmarch “Valorie” Clutch in Old Pink. Even though my wardrobe is only black and white, all my fun accessories in my room are pink. My favorite color is pink and I love it! When I spotted this clutch I squealed in excitement! It’s so girlie, fun and would look amazing at night.The glitter is probably very annoying and I’m sure it gets all over you but when a clutch is this cute it’s OK. I would totally sport this clutch only at night because I think the glitter would shine better at night. Besides, isn’t there a fashion rule to not wear or carry around anything that features glitter or sequins?I do not own anything wardrobe wise, pink and I never will. I’m convinced bright colors don’t look good on me, but I think this clutch would stand out beautifully with a black dress. Black is always lovely to wear in the evening but sometimes it’s fun to have some colorful accessories that stand out. The “Valorie” would definitely stick out with all that glitter on it! It’s such a cute girlie bag and instantly brings me back to childhood. Love it!You can purchase the Anya Hindmarch “Valorie” Clutch for $395.Available at these Anya Hindmarch Boutiques: Bloomingdales Net-a-Porter Saks Fifth Avenue

Emmy Rossum tweeted this picture over the weekend of her and her Shameless co-stars at Six Flags. The petite cross-body bag in the picture is called the “Sweet Bag” by Gerard Darel.I love this style. It’s the perfect size for just the necessities so you’re not lugging around a big ol’ bag when you want your hands free..

Burberry Grainy Bag

I’ve never been a huge fan of Burberry. Plaid is definitely not one of my favorite fashion statements. I don’t wear plaid nor do I own any accessory that’s plaid. What’s weird is that I’m half English, and I don’t even like plaid. If you know fashion, you know Brits love their plaid. My family does, I on the other hand despise it.However, when it comes to classic, iconic, beautiful handbags Burberry is up there with the best. The company always makes handbags that are so sophisticated looking and would look with any outfit you put effort into. By that I mean, when you dress up of course.I fell in love with the “Leather Medium” Tote. It doesn’t have much going on with it, but yet it’s so classic looking that you can’t help but say it’s a really beautiful bag.What caught my eye was the chain link accent. Usually you see a chain link accent on a lot of Juicy Couture bags but not too many higher end designer brands and if you do it’s sometimes a shoulder strap.If I owned this bag, I could see myself using it all year long. I wouldn’t wear it with just any casual outfit though. As I stated above, this bag definitely has that dressy look to it so I would probably only take it out when I was going somewhere nice or to a special outing. All in all, it’s a gorgeous bag!You can purchase the Burberry “Leather Medium” Tote at Bloomingdales on sale for $836 (reg $1195)

Net-A-Porter: Coach Classics Collection

While browsing the Net-A-Porter website the other day, I was shocked to see Coach handbags sitting on their virtual shelves. But they have been stocking Reed Krakoff handbags for some time now, so perhaps this was the next logical step. The Coach styles you will find at Net-A-Porter are not your everyday signature pieces. Quite the contrary! These styles are from the Classics Collection, a group of retro styles reintroduced from Coach’s archives. Soft and buttery leather, brass hardware, and simple turnlock closures are the hallmark features of these pieces. They may not be vintage, but you will definitely be tempted to put on some bell bottoms while carrying one! Even more interesting is that these handbags seem to be unique (at least online-wise) to Net-A-Porter. I checked the official Coach website and none of these styles appear under the Coach Originals section. Below you will find some pieces from the collection that really grabbed my attention. Check them out!Small Shoulder Bag – $300Small, but very cute! This bag can be worn across the body or carried in hand as a clutch (simply remove the shoulder strap).Leather Field Bag – $500Perfect for work or play! The leather messenger is a very hot look right now!Madison Small Satchel – $360Sweet and sophisticated, this piece is compact and ready to go! Great for the girl on the go!Discover the Coach Classics Collection at Net-A-Porter!

Emilio Pucci Media Bag

Emilio Pucci began his iconic line in 1947 when a photo of a snowsuit he had designed for a friend ended up on the pages of Harper’s Bazaar. Today, we associate bold psychadelic prints and more recently sleek shapes with geometric cutouts that grace the most beautiful bodies in the world.Making a statement comes naturally to the brand and I see a major one with the Media Flap Bag. What could have become an ultra-conservative bag is transformed with exquisite detailing. A bold chain strap with leather shoulder pad, silver grommets and rings give this bag sophisticated edge. It’s not grunge rock, but elegance meets edge.A roomy enough bag at 10″ x 7 3/4″ x 3″ with a 13 1/2″ strap drop and 25″ crossbody strap drop. This Italian made bag boast an inside zip pocket, cellphone and open pocket with a jaquard lining.I once flirted with multiple piercing when I had a second earring added to my left lobe in high school. It has long since been abandoned. The desire to add more never came back. In fact, I believe less is more. However the perfectly aligned silver rings that pierce each side of this elegant flap bag are incredibly appealing and make me say yes to having perfectly placed piercings! Available at the Nordstrom Pucci Boutique for $1495.00#gallery-2 {margin: auto;}#gallery-2 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-2 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-2 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}

Rebecca Minkoff “I Heart Boys, Shoes & Bags

Rebecca Minkoff is one of my all time favorite designers and it’s mainly because her handbags and accessories are classic, timeless but also eye catching. What I love the most about Ms. Minkoff’s brand, is that any of her pieces can be carried/used all year long. She may come out with different colors for each of the seasons but overall anything from her brand is usable all year long, which makes it all good investment pieces. I mean, whats the point of purchasing an accessory or handbag that you can only use a few times during the year? The economy is bad, we’re in a recession and I know when I’m purchasing anything fashion related if I can’t use it all year long I don’t buy it. Thankfully, I see Rebecca Minkoff as “year proof”. I know for certain anything I buy of hers will be used pretty much every month out of the year.I absolutely adore Rebecca Minkoff‘s pouches so it’s no surprise that I fell in love with the “I Heart Boys, Shoes & Bags” Cory pouch. For me, the statement says it all and I’m sure any fashionista can agree. There isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not crushing on a celebrity, wanting a new bag or pair of shoes. The pouch can be used as a money safe to save for stylish accessories or be tossed in a purse and used to carry various items.What caught my eye the most about the pouch was the color. Before I even read the description I said to myself, “That’s a gorgeous blood red type of color.” To my surprise, Ms. Minkoff herself named it blood red! Deep red always looks gorgeous on pretty much anything and does this pouch good! I’m a fan and definitely want one!You can purchase the Rebecca Minkoff “I Heart Boys, Shoes & Bags” Cory Pouch at Shop Bop for $55. Great price!

Diane von Furstenberg Kaitlin

Do young women crochet anymore? We primarily associate it with doily making, scarves, mittens and the overly challenging idea of making a sweater. There is even the odd star-spangled handbag that appears on the arm of one’s grandmother. But, on a fashionable chic woman who emulates boho … perhaps. How about a urban professional or soccer mom with style? Absolutely! With the Diane Von Furstenberg Kaitlyn Woven Shoulder Bag, crochet is hip and fashion forward.Beautifully crocheted leather provides a striking textural element accented with gold tone hardware. It’s all you need to make a fashion statement. Beautiful, soft supple leather, intricately woven will fit comfortably to the body.Available in striking black, Desert Rust or Goldenrod, this bag comes in a color to fit your style. I’d go for black to spice up a professional wardrobe or complete a rocker chic look. choose one of the on trend colors to mix with boho, denim and even styles with a military edge. A top handle or detachable shoulder strap will even compliment your style. Go for the 11″ drop top handle if you’re in a more ladylike mode and a shoulder strap for total a more casual vibe.This bag is quite roomy measuring 15″ x 1″ x 2″. And with a price tag of $795 at ShopBop it’s sure to fit your budget!

Holiday Red Bags

We are about the approach the season of sparkle and holiday reds! Whether you can efficiently pull of shades of crimson or if you’re a simple admirer of the trend, designers and artists are giving us their best bags in the hottest reds for the season.Burberry presents one of its best with the Burberry Leather Mini Bag. Its bowling bag shape is lined in one of the riches naturally grained leathers from the collection. The fire hydrant red along with gold-toned hardware makes this satchel the perfect holiday essential.If you want to get more into the holiday spirit, try the Maryanne Chained Tote by Kate Spade. The quilted scarlet leather along with silver-chained straps makes this roomy tote a vibrant choice for the winter season.If you feel bright reds are too flashy for your style and you prefer something a bit more muted, Tory Burch carries a nice Small East-West Tote in fun raspberry shade. Shiny pink undertones in a patent leather finish contribute to the stylish trend without exposing you out of your hue comfort zone.My holiday red pick is hands down the Cabas Muse Two Shopping Bag by Yves Saint Laurent. I’ve always been a fan of the Muse Two, and it’s sister shopper is just as attractive. It has such a lovely silhouette, an attractive color and a sophisticated design that can be easily adapted by women of all ages. The shopper arrives with buttery soft and smooth bull-calf leather and with just the right amount of gold-toned hardware so that it doesn’t take away much beauty from this piece.

We LOVE Hautelook

Shopping online is one of my favorite things to do, so my list of online boutiques is pretty vast. However, there is one website that stands out from the rest. At least in my book, anyway! It isn’t an online boutique, but a sample sale website. I’m talking about Hautelook, of course!Some may wonder why I would choose a sample sale website as my favorite online boutique of 2011. I know some people get frustrated with sample sale websites for short shipping items or having a limited selection. With Hautelook, I have never had these problems. They always have the cutest contemporary clothes, with plenty of items to choose from that are available in my size. They also have tons of casual jewelry, which I can never seem to get enough of! I practically die when they feature Alex and Ani! And the handbags, oh the handbags! They have featured many times pieces from my favorite handbag designers including Rebecca Minkoff, Treesje, and Foley + Corinna. Hautelook doesn’t usually have a lot of high-end luxury items, but that’s okay with me. When shopping for the deals, I much more prefer looking for mid-level items at extremely affordable prices. Hautelook’s Blowout sales just can’t be beat! I have bagged so many adorable pieces during those and I’ve never had to worry about breaking the bank!Be quick now! You don’t want those great deals to get away from you!Discover Hautelook!

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Bag

Unique silhouettes and sharp leather edges is my impression of 3.1 Phillip Lim. The House presents extremely structured and refined accessories that may come off as undesirable to the classic-style Bagista. If you seek to get out of the comfort zone made up of roomy totes and elastic leather satchels, discover the framed and chic presentations of Philip Lim, such as the beautiful Pashli Satchel.It appears to be overweight and hardly flexible, but it sure is vibrant and beautiful! I was initially drawn to the energetic shade of violet, which is either misguidedly named “Navy” or is falsely portrayed in its stock photo. Regardless, its appearance is lovely and will brighten up any mood or spectrum of your wardrobe. Give this satchel a walk around and you will see how functional this bag is with its distinctive compartments. Vertical zip pockets and a squared push lock closure are some neat Lim characteristics. In case you haven’t played around with this handbag yet, the vertical zip closures double as handbag extender. Simply pull the zipper downward and you’ll expand the satchels width, allowing extra carrying capacities. There are neat features throughout, but my only complaint is that they could have added more arm length to the double top handles, or at least a detachable body strap.Shop 3.1 Phillip Lim through: Saks Fifth Avenue

Celebrities Pick the Coach Kristin Woven Satchel

celebrities pictured above: Eva Longoria & Rebecca RomijinFor the past couple of weeks I have found myself obsessing at the All-American brand of Coach, simply check out their new products and leather goods if you haven’t done so already.It’s quite visible that Coach did some serious renovations at their design headquarters. They aimed for sophistication, lively and chic, in which they definitely accomplished. The one of many bags that I have been eyeing for my collection is the Kristin Woven Leather Round Satchel, an editor favorite.It has all the features you would find on a high-end designer piece for a fraction of the price. I’m obsessing over the elegant woven leather panels that run throughout the satchel. The smooth and nice touch of sophistication presents a classic and refreshing choice that is office, shopping, and dress-attire appropriate.Handbags like these give us mature bagista’s hope that the brand is embracing our age group as well, not just the logo loving teenage crowds, which the Poppy collection was clearly aiming at. Neutrals, clean hardware, luscious leathers and comfortable carrying means are always a winner in my book. Black, Silver and Mushroom are the three color choices available for this satchel. Make this Coach your year-round satchel for $498 through: Handbags at Dillards!

Anya Hindmarch Girlie Stuff Cosmetic Bag

While looking at the latest assortment of Anya Hindmarch cosmetic bags, the first one that caught my eye was the Girlie Stuff Pouch. What drew me in is that lovely bright turquoise shade – it’s like a tropical punch of color!I just love bright small accessories! Even if you live in a colder climate zone it could be used year-round with no cut-off point – like the rule of not wearing carrying white after labor day. Of course if you live in some tropical climate you can get away with carrying a white or bright colored bag. Everyone is different too. When it comes to purses, personally I prefer my brights and whites during the summer and my neutrals and darks during the winter. Only exception being, accessories!The Anya Hindmarch Girlie Stuff Pouch measures in at 3.5″ height x 6″ length x 2.5″ depth and is made completely inside and out of easy-to-clean nylon. Available in turquoise or red and retails for $135. A bit on the pricey side for a cosmetic pouch, but it’s Anya Hindmarch. It’s going to last years.Carry all your girlie stuff in style with Anya Hindmarch’s latest beauty cosmetic bag.Find the Anya Hindmarch Girlie at ShopBop!

Gift Ideas on Sale

 Meli Melo’s limited edition bag is creating quite a stir in London.  It is a pink metallic tote lined with printed phone numbers for important hot spots around town, like spas, restaurants, salons and even the dry cleaner.  We love this idea!  Wouldn’t it be great if you could customized it with your own set of must have numbers?  But they are coming out with Paris, New York and Milan editions soon.  Margherita Missoni, Anna Wintour, Sienna Miller, and Elizabeth Saltzman (editor of Vanity Fair) have all been seen using it, although I can’t totally picture Anna Wintour with this bag.  The concept is great but the bag itself is just a giant utilitarian tote and although we love pink and we love metallic, this combo just somehow seems a little much.  £450 (approximately $885 USD) by special order through Meli Melo.

Net A Porter’s sale on bags has a great selection for gift idea for yourself and your loved ones!  These are really great prices for those who want the best but can’t justify the prices.  Don’t compromise your taste, shop sales!Get the Alexander McQueen Leather Novak for only $735.  It is an iconic bag you will want for your collection.The Chloe Washed Tote is perfect for the everyday to kick around and at $996 you won’t feel bad carrying your shoes in them.For those who are looking for the one great bag to buy, this Bottega Veneta Umbria is a classic you can wear with everything.  It also makes a great gift for your mom, at 40% off for $1428 you can be the golden child without going into your 401K.We give Marc Jacobs a bad rap but we are ok if you get his stuff on sale (which you always can) and this Capra satchel is a nice bag for only $810.

Fendi Bag du Jour

Mel from Tokyo, a loyal Bag Snob reader since Day 1, alerted me to this Fendi bag last week.  At first I thought my near sightedness was back even though I had Lasik 8 years ago and have had 20/20 vision ever since.  I looked at it from all angles and zoomed in on every corner of the bag to make sure I was seeing correctly.  Sure enough, there is nothing wrong with my vision.  It really is a ghastly concoction of multi colored canvas, rope, lizard, patent leather, and Fendi plaque, all topped off with a giant gaudy yellow crown.  Why, Fendi, why do you continue assaulting us with these ridiculous and horrendous bags?  And naming it “Bag du Jour” is not going to entice anyone to buy it, cuz if being fashionable today means I have to be seen with this hideous bag, I don’t want to be of the moment.  I’d rather be so last season and use my Pierre Hardy besace bag, the “Bag du Hier”.  And the design isn’t the only appalling thing, the price is just as ridiculous.  It’s $1910 on sale for $1377 at eLuxury!

he Chloe Paddington

This is the HARDEST bag to get this year.   If you flip through the latest mags, only the hippest “it” girls have it.  The Blue Nuit is as hard to get as the secret ingredient in coca cola.  If you can’t get your hands on this must have color, you can settle for the chocolate (fab!), red (yummy!), camel (classic!), or electric cobalt blue (ick!). Net-A-Porter sold 376 bags in 36 hours and now has 700 names on their wait list.  The other option is to go for the Silverado bag worn by secondary “it” girls like Jessica Simpson (we are being generous here with Jessica’s status after that trashy pajamas outfit she wore to the VMA’s).Why do we love this bag?   The leather is super slouchy and soft but ultra durable and scratch resistant.   The medium size is functional for everyday and it’s perfect for a fun night of clubbing as well.  The pockets on both sides are great for sliding in your cell phone and keys.  The downside, it weighs in at a hefty three pounds!  The lock alone is half a pound but the Paddington is just not the same without it so us fashion slaves will just have to look fabulous toting it straight to our chiropractors office.

Luxury bag prices to rocket even higher!!!

Bottega woven croc: $78,000   Crocodile birkin with diamonds: $148,000Is leather the new diamonds?  Bag prices have been steadily climbing for several years yet retailers say they have not reached their potential ceiling?!?!  Terry Lundgren, CEO of Federated Department Stores, described it as “To infinity and beyond!”  It’s not unusual to see prices of luxury bags range from $5,000 – $148,000 these days, steep even for Bag Snob standards but they plan to increase them even more?  How stupid do they think we are?  It’s not as if some miracle cream has been added that will banish cellulite and wrinkles when you come in contact with the bags (which would actually make it priceless).  Industry sources say component costs are higher but come on, it’s leather, a by product for goodness sake!  Popularity of exotic skins are also to blame and you all know I adore croc and python but I won’t stand being taken advantage of!Almost every luxury brand has a bag in the 5 figures nowadays.  So who are regularly buying $10,000 bags? Mostly Europeans who take advantage of the weak dollar, namely consumers from England, Germany, Italy and Russia.  And there are clients on waitlists for crocodile birkins with diamonds that costs $148,000!  There is no reason why a bag should cost that much, I don’t care if it’s made of crocodile with diamonds on the hardware.  In a world of strife and conflict, it seems ridiculous to be spending this kind of money on a bag.  But what do I know, I’m just a girl blogging about her obsession of bags.  Seriously, I love bags more than anyone but I have my limits.  I study all the bags available and make informed choices each season to add to my collection.  And yes, I buy more than one bag a season, but I have a vast wardrobe of bags that range from funky inexpensive clutches to Hermes birkins and it’s a collection I have slowly built in the last 20 years since I was 16 and it’s filled with classics, not “it” bags that cost more than cars.Even our beloved Bottega Veneta has a crocodile bag this season priced at $78,000, what, was that crocodile fed caviar and champagne and given regular IPL peels and facials?  Women who pay $100,000 for special bags claim it guarantees they have a bag their friends don’t own.  I, too covet special bags noone else has, but I am not insane.Wait ’til Kelly hears about this, she is going to hit the roof.  We’ve long discussed launching our own line of luxurious bags at reasonable prices.  Perhaps it’s time we did.  What do you think?  How much are you willing to pay for luxury?and Doyle New York Source: WWD

Lanvin “Nil” Red Patent Bag

Nil sports bag by LanvinHot for Spring is the punk rockin’ Nil bag from Lanvin in red patent leather and metallic hardware.  It is so perfect for Valentine’s Day, I can’t think of a better way to treat yourself than with a glamorous red bag!  I am loving the exterior zippered compartment in addition to the two front flap pockets, it’s important to stay organized but just as important to look chic while being anal.  Those of you resisting the patent leather look should really try it.  Not only is patent leather modern and sleek, it is so easy to maintain.  I smeared lip gloss on one of my patent bags recently and it wiped right off with a baby wipe (a damp cloth will do same).   Call Barneys New York to order yours!  469-221-4723Happy Valentines Day everyone!!!

One of our favorite bag designers is once again making us weak in the knees with this amazing elegant and ladylike calf hair chain bag.  I love the combination of the chain and leather handle, it makes it less bulky and easier to carry.  We’ve all had to deal with the annoying chain slipping off our shoulders!  The leather detail along the center with the hardware makes this bag absolutely perfect.  You can’t go wrong with this bag, it just says to the world, “I am a classic beauty!”.   Net-a-Porter for $1125.

Ralph Lauren “Ricky” Alligator Bag

Inspired by a vintage Cooper saddle carrier, the luxurious Ricky bag from Ralph Lauren is crafted from exquisite American alligator and finished with custom Italian hardware. It’s also one of the best deals in exotic bags on the market.  The Burberry crocodile bag is $22,000 and a Croc Hermes birkin is $30,000, in comparison the Ricky gator bag is a mere $14,000, which means you can make your mortgage payment and look stylish.  (What’s the difference you ask?  Alligators are the giant scary reptiles from America, Crocodiles are the giant scary reptiles from the rest of the world).  I know what you’re thinking, it resembles the birkin but think of it as the American equestrian interpretation.  I played around with it and also like the birkin, it’s best used open to avoid the hassle of getting in and out of the straps.  And seriously, do you not want to dive in to the Ralph Lauren catalogue and live his vision?  It’s available in half a dozen shades and four sizes, but I love the glossy black version, it’s a classic that will last a lifetime.  Call Dana Guercio at the Ralph Lauren store in Highland Park 214-522-5270 to purchase!PRICE UPDATE: $14,000 for 35cm, $10,000 for 30cm, call Dana for the price of 25cm.

Just Cavalli Lace Giraffe Hobo

I find this Jimmy Choo Keeya tote very appealing, the subtle metallic color is absolutely gorgeous and the leather detail is funky and interesting on a simply designed tote.  It kind of resembles woven leather but upon closer inspection, it’s slashed in a very punk rock and fun way, not a crazy way that we’ve come to associate with Jimmy Choo bags.  Actually, you would never guess it was from Jimmy Choo until you see the engraved metal hardware.  Two side pockets and three divided interior compartments also make it easy to stay organized while looking impossibly chic.  A great summer travel bag for trips to Portofino or St. Tropez.  At Net-A-Porter for $1,395(Bag Snob would like to correct a statement made in an earlier article about Sandra Choi being the designer behind Jimmy Choo bags.  She is only responsible for the fabulous shoe collection, which you all know we adore.)

With all the hoopla over the Louis Vuitton patchwork mess, Roberto Cavalli must be feeling lonely and neglected.  We’ve refrained from ragging on the leopard and flower prints that usually assault Cavalli designs cuz hey, we’ve given in to an occasional leopard whim ourselves and Kelly certainly has had her share of floral violations in her Ferragamo days but seriously, there is never, EVER, an excuse for carrying a bag described as “Lace Giraffe”.  Don’t let anyone fool you, Giraffe is not the new Leopard.  Just look at this bag, is there anything that remotely resembles a bag that anyone in their right minds would carry?  Not only is it an ugly Giraffe trimmed in lace, it’s apparently a Giraffe with warts.  We know this is the Just Cavalli diffusion line meant for a younger consumer or one with lesser financial means but come on, just cuz one is young or lacking in funds does not mean they have no taste.  $430 at eLuxury

Stella McCartney Environmental Bag

It seems like everyone is doing an environmental shopping bag these days.  This one from Stella McCartney is due out this June for $495 and is made of organic cotton.  Hermes is also coming out with one, the Silky Pop reusable bag for $960.  It collapsesand folds up to a wallet size calfskin pouch.  There is also a grocery tote from designer Consuelo Castiglioni of Marni for $843.  I am all for being environmental and using less plastic bags – of course I love a fabulous bag even if it is for grocery shopping but there is something amiss with spending this amount of money for leaking poultry and juicy strawberries.  In Europe everyone carries one of these around for stopping by the bakery or picking up oranges on the way home but in the US we just don’t shop that way.  I need at least 3 bags for a week’s worth of groceries.  I mean, at those prices it makes more sense to “reuse” my own has-been bags in my closet, like all my dozens of nylon Prada totes.  Or why not buy any one of the hundreds of giant bags out there, like the Chanel patent Cabas garbage bag for $1000.  It is really giant so you can fit a gallon of milk, an 8 pound chicken and 3 boxes of cereal with room to spare.   And the patent leather makes it easy to clean for meaty spills.   Or more realistically, get a Le Pliage from Longchamp for $115.  I feel like economy should come into play when you’re trying to be environmental because there are resources being used that could go to something more worthy (like a nice bag you can use for a lifetime instead of one that will get trashed in a few months) .  At some point, it just doesn’t make any sense.

Fair Trade Does a World of Good

Fancy Footwork Tote and Glossy Goodness BowlI guess today is global awareness day at Bag Snob.  Now wouldn’t it be great to be environmental and socially conscious?  If you just want a cute shopping tote ($29.95) that is useful and reusable, why not get one of these from World of Good, a website that sells fair trade products made by artisans around the world.  Fair trade practice is one that pays artisans fair wages, provides safe working conditions, supports the communities they’re in and helps sustain the local environment.  I have a bracelet and a little jewelry box with amazing craftsmanship and cute, too!  I shopped around and found more products that I am going to get.  The Glossy Goodness Bowl ($19.95),handmade in Vietnam, is great for snacks and the Bowled Over Tray ($34.95) handcrafted in the Philippines from Acacia wood is perfect for displaying fruit.  I love the beautiful wood and it’ll look so nice on my dining table.  Does all this not look like stuff you get for hundreds of dollars at some fancy shop?  I can’t wait to get the Moo-ve Over for Fair Trade Tong ($39.95) made from buffalo horn and wood in Vietnam for serving my daily salads.  Now, why wouldn’t you want to feel good about what you buy and be able to get beautiful hand-crafted products at great prices?  It’s win win for everyone!  Please help us in supporting free trade and give better lives to the communities that benefit from it.Bowled Over Tray and Moo-ve Over For Fair Trade Tongs

Julie Gilhart – The Style Maker

Photo credit: Courtney Perry for F!DI had the privilege of meeting one of the most powerful figures in the fashion industry, Julie Gilhart- Fashion Director and Senior VP of Barneys New York, last month in Dallas.  I was invited to attend a breakfast with her and although I was inexcusably late she was kind enough to spend an hour with me after breakfast to talk about fashion (and by the way, talking to Julie about fashion is like talking to the Dalai Lama about buddhism!).BackgroundJulie grew up in Dallas but always wanted to be a surfer girl (she now surfs regularly).  Her first job was at Lily Pulitzer and she went to work for Neiman Marcus after college as the Assistant Buyer to Benita Downing, one of the great legendary buyers of NM who traveled extensively with Stanley Marcus.The Love of BagsAs with all the uber fashionable, Julie has a thing for bags.  The classics she loves are Balenciaga (which Barneys was the first to carry in the US) and Givenchy.  For Spring she has chosen the Lanvin clutch/tote, the white Balenciaga with gold grommets and the Givenchy Clarabelle.   Currently, she has been toting around her fave – the Bottega Veneta beluga tote in black (which Bottega has renamed “Julie”), other than the braided handle, it is non-recognizable as anything but a beautifully made bag.   As for the “it bag” phenomenon, she thinks it instantly makes a bag non “it” when it’s being marketed or called “it”.  Either you got it or you don’t.   When asked if there were any bags to watch for, she had a couple immediately in mind; Valextra, for their beautifully made structured classic lines and Paula Thomas for Thomas Wylde.Style SecretsAnything simple and easy.  Functional clothes that you don’t have to think too much about is important to her so that she can focus on family, her job and the state of the world.  She says that fashion has a way of infiltrating every aspect of our lives so it is important to be in conversation about it and understand it but she marches to her own beat and does not follow any trends.  As Julie said, “Vogue put it best, ‘Intelligent clothes allow you to be intelligent about everything else’.  For me that is it, clothes need to make you feel beautiful and confident so you can think about everything else.”Barneys ApproachThe Barneys approach to fashion is very simple.  They ask two basic questions:  Is the product good?  And is the designer behind the product interesting and talented?  Barneys does not subscribe to marketing tricks, hype and the red carpet.  They are firm believers that it is the product and the designers that create the energy.What’s Next?Interestingly, the designer she said to watch for is Isabel Toledo who is designing for Anne Klein (her husband did the paintings in the store and Barneys was the first to carry her collection).  For years, Isabel has been an underground favorite.  Every designer that comes into Barneys admires her work.  “Her collection for Anne Klein is amazing, clothes you can wear everyday, plus glamour for evening, “ Julie said.Another important designer is Sophia Kokosalaki of Vionnet (dresses photographed with Julie) Julie explained that The Vionnet House was founded in 1912 and closed in 1939. It was by a woman considered as one of the greatest dressmakers of the 20th century- a fashion genius who has inspired almost every designer since that time.  She based her aesthetic on glamour, simplicity, sensuous, and innovative designs. In fact she is credited with inventing the bias cut.  Azzedine Alaia (Julie is a regular in Alaia’s kitchen, often eating lunch or dinner cooked by Alaia while discussing fashion- what I wouldn’t give to be at one of those meals!) has said that Madame Vionnet’s dresses are the only garments you can take apart and cannot copy the pattern.   I tried on several of the Vionnet dresses and they are amazingly flattering.  Pale in coloration is Julie’s favorite color tone of the season and she declared strapless an important look for spring.Julie is the consummate cool chick, just hanging out with her made me feel cool!  After our interview, we both proceeded to scour the racks at the new Barneys in Dallas for the latest Spring goodies before her taxi whisked her off to the airport to make her flight back to New York.

Badgley Mischka Platinum Day Bags

Badgley Mischka is expanding its fashion empire with a new day bag collection under its Platinum label.  The Platinum Day bag is the third line of bags along with Couture and Evening.  This collection is expected to generate 50 percent of the brand’s total sales for next year and will retail from $300-$600.The design duo behind the label, Mark Badgley and James Mischka hopes to capture the mass market with its new line of bags.  “With this collection, our goal is to dress our customers in all aspects of their daily lifestyle,” Badgley said. “This is the type of woman who works, she’s a career woman, she carpools, but she’s modern. She’s our sportswear customer.”The collection consists of 47 styles among three categories. The “casual” bags are a series of everyday bags in napa leather, patent leather and straw. The attitude bags will be offered in two toned hardware and attention getting bold colors in patent leather, fake crocodile and ostrich. The “leisure” bags are meant to be ideal for a day at the beach or a stroll in the city and feature napa leather and patent-trimmed cotton canvas.With its latest launch, Badgley Mischka will continue to bring products to more women than just the red-carpet clientele who don its beaded eveningwear.  “The collection really opens up a new opportunity for us,” Badgley said. “We have celebrities who carry our couture day bags, like Jessica Simpson and Teri Hatcher. But these will really broaden our brand.”So those of you who salivate over red carpet looks each season can now obtain a piece of Hollywood glamour at an affordable price.  Badgely Mischka Evening bags currently at Saks.Badgley Mischka Maclaine ClutchSource:WWD

Shopping Fall 2007 – 5 tips to update your Bag Wardrobe

There is way too much information out there to process each season; with designers and magazines frantically throwing bags at us hoping for something to catch on, how can we distinguish the crap from the gems?  Well I have taken it upon myself once again to guide you through the mess, I mean the looks of the season (my husband says I am nosy but I maintain I am HELPFUL!)5 tips to update your Fall Bag Wardrobe1. Bold Color – Do not be afraid of electric blue (like the Jimmy Choo clutch we’re giving away) or this fire engine red Lanvin bag!  These bold colors will instantly take you from drab to fab this Fall!  Lanvin at Barneys New York.2. Geometric Shape – Modern and sleek, a square tote or clutch will keep you up to date.  We love this ‘Flash clutch’ from Sang A (a designer you will read more about later)!3. Patent – A bit of glossy shine is a surefire way to spark up an old outfit.  The Mulberry purple patent leather tote is surprisingly wearable and affordable $995.  Mulberry available at Net-a-Porter.  Anya Hindmarch Lautner and Lapnack navy patent bags are also fab for Fall!4. Metallic – Your silver Lanvin bag from last spring will still work through Fall, punch it up with a fuschia dresss and black tights and you’ll be ready to rock for Fall! 5. Exotic Skin – Crocs, anaconda/pythons, lizards  and ostrich, pick one or all, you can’t go wrong!  Frugal snobs can opt for leather embossed croc to get the same look.So remember:#1: Go Bold with Color!#2: Geometric Shapes will modernize your wardrobe.#3: Shine on with patent leather!#4: Keep last season’s metallic.#5: Go Exotic with ostrich or a lux Valextra croc!Bag Snob note: Remember, you do not have to buy new things each season to stay current.  Shop your own bag wardrobe (or your mother’s!) before you run out to the mall!  You will be surprised at how many unique finds you will come up with.   Vintage stores are also chock full of inexpensive treasures (especially crocodile bags from the ’50s and ’60s!), just make sure you check for stains and tears before purchasing.Lastly, it is not WHAT you carry but HOW you carry it!  Be confident and throw some sass in your attitude and you will be Absolutely Snob-ulous every season!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr. Q Delancy Tote

Ask and you shall receive.  We usually don’t indulge when people complain that the bags we recommend are too costly, I mean, we are afterall the Bag Snobs =)  But in the spirit of helping out students and our much appreciated educators, here is a bag I think everyone will agree makes for a great student, professor and work bag.  It has all the flair without the big ticket.  Don’t you just love the gathered detail on this supple and yummy leather?  The straps look short but can actually go over the shoulder.  This is not for the bike or public transport commuting student, which I am assuming our readers are way too high maintenance to be anyway.  It is 21.5″ X 19″ and has a 5″ gusset so you have plenty of room for books, notes and a change of clothes! (If you are Tina, you can fit an entire week’s worth of clothes in there.  She once showed up to my college apartment for a sleepover with an entire outfit in her Chanel 2.55).  I don’t want to hear any whining about the price of this bag, at $695 your budget surely will not bust.  Available at Net-a-Porter.

I just know this will sell out and I’d hate for you to miss out on this fabulous bag! The rounded shape adds youth to the top handle bag and the ostrich makes it too divine to pass up. I love the juxtaposition of gray with gold hardware, it really complements each other! Rock it with this fab Miu Miu Double-breasted peacoat ($1,395) and a pair of hot pink Louboutins and you’ll be bright and happy for Fall! Miu Miu Large rounded tote $3,360 at NAP.

Jimmy Choo Marin Clutch Giveaway!

It is Fall and it’s that time of year where every bag comes in some sort of fur. I am not into the Indy but this one with grey mink and ostrich detail somehow makes it better. If you are a rap star (or Jennifer Lopez), this is the way to style it for the winter. The shaded grey mink is so divine! I like that instead of metal plates on the corners, this version has ostrich patches, it just makes a little more sense design wise. I know this is totally un-PC and we get a lot of flack for featuring these type of bags but remember, we only talk about the bags, we don’t make them. And do we encourage people to buy them? No, not this bag, at $7990 you can get yourself a nice Birkin!! Of course it will be leather and not an exotic. We still recommend though that if you want exotic, go with a skin and stay away from fur. You’ll get a lot of heads turning if that’s what you want but fur is just not that practical as a bag. Available at Gucci online.
